Inspiration.

This record is very special to me as it represents the very early stages of my songwriting journey. I wrote Smiling Eyes and Searching one winter in Liverpool and played them to my Mum. She then booked me into a studio in Birmingham over Christmas without me knowing. I loved the process and my mates instantly got on board with the tracks. One mate played ‘Smiling Eyes’ non-stop on a travel trip around SE Asia! What a legend. Both ‘Hideaway’ and ‘Every Time’ just came to me, sometimes songs just seem to appear from nowhere. This one is for my family and friends who have always supported me.

Recording.

‘Smiling Eyes’ and ‘Searching’ were recorded at Robannas by Adam, a very talented producer. They were recorded alongside an untitled ‘Piano Track’ that my Grandma loved, and touchingly, it was later played at her funeral. She was an incredible woman, always encouraging everyone around her to pursue their dreams.

‘Hideaway’ was recorded live in a living room. I played the song to my friend Steve Sale and he just set up a mic and said, “play that again, exactly the same”.

‘Every Time’ was recorded by my good friend from uni Marcus Cormack at Tyro Studios in London.
